I’m fucking begging some of you thinktank wannabes to talk to indigenous Americans, talk to black Americans, talk to pretty much anyone from a racial minority group in America. this country was BUILT on the genocide of indigenous people and the enslavement of black people.
Indigenous groups had their languages banned, their children stolen, had every ounce of culture violently ripped from them by settlers. Same for enslaved Africans.
and even when languages/practices weren’t directly officially banned the stigma and hatred was so strong a lot of people stopped engaging in their own culture just in the hopes of protecting their families
if you mean white Americans, say white Americans. And if you mean all Americans, use your fucking brain when you say it so you don’t end up looking like someone who probably thinks English is USAmericas official language.
